Ruth White Named America East Track Athlete & Rookie of the Week

White broke the school record in the 10,000m by more than a minute
BOSTON – Freshman Ruth White (Orono, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team has been named both the America East Female Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week for her record-setting performance in the 10,000m at the Black and Gold Invitational on Friday, March 28.
This is White's fourth and fifth America East weekly award. She was named the cross country Performer and Rookie of the Week on Oct. 29 and the indoor track Rookie of the Week on Jan. 21.
White broke the school record by more than a minute by running 33:27.57 as she was the top collegiate runner in the race. Her time currently ranks as the fastest this season in America East and the 17th in the nation.
The previous record was set by Erica Jesseman in 2011 (34:30.30).
The Wildcats return to action for the Jim Boulanger Invitational at UNH on Saturday, April 5. The Senior Day ceremony will start at 10 a.m., followed by the Alumni Mile at 10:30 a.m. Field events will start at 11 a.m. and track events at 12:00 p.m.
