Sophomore's PB 9.950 on floor lifts UNH from third place to victory vs Yale, Brown
DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Anne Challman (Lewisburg, Pa.) tied the fourth-highest floor exercise score in school history, and the floor lineup recorded its top score of the season to propel the UNH gymnastics team to a season-high score (194.700) and a tri-meet victory against Yale (194.325) and Brown (192.100) in Sunday's Stick It for the Cure meet at Lundholm Gym.
Challman anchored the floor team's 49.400 with a personal-best 9.950 to top the podium, which allowed UNH (7-9, 2-1 EAGL) to rally from third place through three rotations to a triumph in front of 1,122 fans.
Vault (Team Score – 48.650)
•Junior Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.) tied Yale's Hailey Kriz for the top placement on vault with a season-high 9.775.
•Freshman Aine Reade (Merrimac, Mass.) shared third place (9.750) with Brown's Julia Bedell.
•Sophomore McCall McMullen (Athens, Ga.) and senior Gracy Mowers (Middleton, Mass.) tied for fifth place (9.725).
Uneven Bars (Team Score – 47.900)
•Moreno paced UNH's bar lineup with a 9.775, which equaled Brown's Liza Marcus and Yale's Lauren Luu for second place.
•Senior Julia Before (Sutton, Vt.) scored a personal-best 9.700 for a share of sixth place.
•Brown's Maya Davis topped the podium with a 9.800.
Balance Beam (Team Score – 48.750)
•The Wildcats boasted four of the top five scores on balance beam, paced by junior Serena Mullin's (Hamden, Conn.) event-winning 9.825.
•Freshman Mady Harvey (Freeland, Mich.) placed runner-up (9.800), while Challman and Brown's Avery Walters shared third place (9.750).
•Sophomore Gwen Ockerbloom (Granby, Conn.) notched fifth place with a 9.725.
Floor Exercise (Team Score – 49.400)
•Challman's winning effort was followed by McMullen and Reade, who each scored a career-high 9.900 to tie Bedell and Yale's Ellie Kearns for second place.
•Mullin, Davis and Yale's Megan Brueck shared sixth place (9.850).
•Mowers, who won the meet's Katie Baldwin Expression Award, scored a 9.800 in her first appearance in the floor lineup since March 18, 2023, to tie Yale's Gigi Sabatini for 10th.
All-Around
•Mullin, who matched her season-high on beam and floor, edged Reade, 38.475-38.275, for the all-around championship.
