Emma Reaves Breaks Own School Record in Tri-Meet with URI, Stonehill

Emma Reaves finished first in shot put, extending her own school record.
KINGSTON, R.I. — Sophomore thrower Emma Reaves (Westminster, Md.) placed first in the women's shot put and women's weight throw at the Rhody Tri-Meet Opener at Mackal Field House in Kingston, R.I. on Friday (Dec. 5), headlining the women's track and field team's first-place finish. Reaves' 47' 2.25" heave in the shot put broke the University of New Hampshire school record, previously set by Reaves last season when she tallied a 46' 1.50" attempt.
In addition to Reaves two first-place finishes, four different Wildcats finished first in their respective events. In the field, Sophomore Sarah Moore (Lisbon, Maine) took home first place in the women's long jump while freshman Tayla Pelletier (Windham, Maine) finished first in the women's triple jump. On the track, sophomore Mariam Nada (Portsmouth, N.H.) ran a 7.71 second 60-meter dash, winning the event while senior Claire Ronan (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), won the 3000-meter run in 10:09.32.
UNH's women's track and field team finished in first place with 104 points, while URI finished the meet in second with 100 points and Stonehill closed with 75 points.
In addition to New Hampshire's first place winners, the following Wildcats placed:
UNH returns to action on Jan. 24 as the indoor track and field team hosts Bryant University at Paul Sweet Oval in Durham, N.H.
