Three Wildcats Voted America East Preseason All-Conference

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior captains Tasmin Cookman (London, England) and Nicole Poulakis (Ajax, Ontario) and classmate Tamera Cookman (London, England) of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team were selected to the 2024 America East Preseason All-Conference Team on Wednesday.
UNH was picked third in the Preseason Poll with 24 points. UAlbany received four first-place votes and 34 points and was followed by UMass Lowell (29 points; two first-place votes), UNH, Maine (23; one), Vermont (20), Bryant (11) and UC Davis (6).
The Wildcats tied UAlbany for the highest number of representatives on the Preseason All-Conference Team.
Tasmin Cookman ranked No. 8 in the nation in goals per game (0.95) and No. 9 in points per game (2.16) last season, and she was third in the America East conference in both those stats. The forward was UNH's leader in goals (18), points (41), shots (90) and shots on goal (57), and she tied for third in assists (five).
Both the 18 goals and 41 points rank No. 8 on UNH's list of single-season superlatives.
Cookman's 2023 accolades included NFHCA All-America Second Team, NFHCA Northeast Region First Team, All-ECAC First Team, America East Offensive Player of the Year and All-Conference First Team.
Poulakis ranked 12th in the nation in points per game (2.05), 13th in assists per game (0.58) and 19th in goals per game (0.74). On the conference leaderboard, the forward was No. 3 in assists per game, No. 4 in points per game and No. 6 in goals per game, as well as tied at No. 4 in game-winning goals (four).
Poulakis was UNH's leader in assists (11) and tied for the lead in game-winning goals. She ranked second in both goals (14) and points (39).
Poulakis' 2023 honors included NFHCA Northeast Region Second Team, All-ECAC Second Team, America East All-Conference First Team and America East All-Academic Team.
Tamera Cookman ranked second on the team in assists (seven) and third in both goals (eight) and points (23); she was also tied atop the leaderboard with four game-winning goals. On the America East leaderboard, Cookman tied at No. 4 in game-winning goals, ranked No. 7 in assists, tied at No. 9 in points and tied for 11th in goals. She was also ninth in assists per game and 10th in points per game.
The midfielder started all 19 games and recorded a point in nine of those 19 games. She scored a goal in back-to-back games three times and her season highlights included a career-high three assists against the University of Maine; she also scored a goal for a total of five points. She matched her career high with a season-high three goals vs. Merrimack College, and the six points also marked a season high.
