Harty Scores First Goal of Season in 2-1 Loss to #15 UConn

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Kelly Harty (Billerica, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season and sophomore goaltender Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) made 26 saves but the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team was edged 2-1 by 15th-ranked UConn at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex on Friday night.
Blair stopped all 17 shots through two periods and made nine more saves in the final frame.
Kyla Josifovic led UConn's offense with a goal and an assist while goalie Tia Chan stopped 27 shots, including 11 in the first period and 12 in the second. Jada Habisch scored the Huskies' other goal.
UNH is now 10-8-1 overall and 6-7-0 in Hockey East while UConn improved to 11-8-0, 9-3-0.

- Chan stopped the initial shot by Alyson Hush (Scarborough, Ontario) deep on the right wing and then Harty's shot from the low slot, but the junior forward was first to the loose puck and deposited it into the goal. Courtney Lilley (Wakefield, Mass.) was credited with the secondary assist.

- UConn recorded an 11-4 shot advantage in the third period to transform a one-goal deficit into a one-goal win.
- The Huskies tied the score, 1-1, on a power-play goal at 2:22, when Habisch redirected Ava Rinker's shot from the high slot under the crossbar.
- Josifovic, who had the secondary assist on Habisch's tally, gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at 14:12.
- UNH pulled Blair in favor of an extra skater with 1:25 remaining and called timeout with 60 seconds on the clock.
- The Huskies did not allow a shot on goal the rest of the way, however, as a shot attempt by Shea Verrier (Reading, Mass.) with 15 seconds left was blocked by a UConn skater.

- Senior assistant captain Chavonne Truter (Uxbridge, Ontario) led the 'Cats with nine faceoff wins.
