EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey took care of business against Long Island University (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NEWHA) on Friday afternoon (Oct. 2) at Northwell Health Ice Center, taking a 5-2 decision.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-LIU opened the scoresheet just six minutes into play following a turnover in the UNH zone, giving the Sharks a 1-0 lead.

-New Hampshire knotted things up just 53 seconds into the middle frame, when Nina Rossi (Pittsgrove, N.J.) won the puck on the boards before feeding a pass across the LIU zone to Callista Printz (Buffalo, N.Y.), who fired on net for her first goal of the season.

-The 'Cats took their first lead of the afternoon late in the period, when Madelyn Soderquist (Woburn, Mass.) fired through traffic on net from the left face-off circle for her first collegiate goal.

-Just 12 seconds later, UNH doubled their edge on the scoreboard when Rossi took a pass from Danika Botterill (Portage La Prairie, Manitoba) tight on the blocker-side before feeding Addison Spitz (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) on the doorstep, who finished the play for her first goal of the season.

-LIU got one back 1:25 into the third period on a shootout try, making it 3-2.

-With 6:19 to play, Sadie Makokis (St. Albert, Alberta) took a pass from Botterill and fired on net from the left-side faceoff dot, connecting for her first of the season.

-Julia Cabral (Lee, N.H.) topped off the scoring with 5:30 to play on a loose puck opportunity in the crease, bringing about the final 5-2 score.
