Three Wildcats posted multi-point games Friday

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey fought to a tie against Boston University (0-2-1, 0-0-1 HEA) on Friday evening (Oct. 9) at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex, skating to a 4-4 decision. Boston University picked up the extra conference point in the shootout win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Wildcats opened the scoring just 2:34 into the contest, when Addison Spitz (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) skated around the left face-off circle, feeding Danika Botterill (Portage La Prairie, Manitoba) on the doorstep for the score.

-Just 2:19 later, Nina Rossi (Pittsgrove, N.J.) was tripped up on her way to the net, forcing a shootout try the sophomore would then convert for her first goal of the season, making it a 2-0 contest.

-BU tied things up just over a minute later, with goals coming at 5:23 and 5:56 to make it a 2-2 game.

-Neither team struck in the second period, leaving the 2-2 score intact. The Wildcats paced the shot sheet, outshooting the Terriers 11-7.

-New Hampshire regained the advantage 2:12 into the third period, when Spitz finished on a deflected Sadie Makokis (St. Albert, Alberta) shot from the point to make it 3-2 on the power-play. Kristen Hartman (Newmarket, Ontario) picked up the primary assist after tipping the puck to Spitz.

-UNH doubled their lead 5:43 later when Botterill took a go-ahead feed from Charlie Rauch (Ramsey, N.J.) in the BU zone to make it 4-2.

-The Terriers tied things up again with goals at 8:17 and 11:51.

-Neither team found the game-winner, forcing overtime.

-Despite a power-play opportunity and a 3-1 edge on the shot chart for the 'Cats, neither team netted the game-winner, resulting in the final 4-4 tie.

-BU earned the extra conference point with the shootout win.
