Juodikis Records Two Points in 6-3 Loss at Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior captain Kira Juodikis (LaSalle, Ontario) recorded a goal and an assist but the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team fell 6-3 to Providence College on Saturday afternoon at Schneider Arena.
Sophomore goalie Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was credited with 30 saves and had five goals against. PC's sixth goal was scored into an empty net with 21 seconds remaining. UNH's other goals were scored by Shea Verrier (Reading, Mass.) and Maddie Crowley-Cahill (Haverhill, Mass.).
PC was led offensively by Millie Sirum (three goals), Reichen Kirchmaier (one goal, two assists) and Hannah Johnson (three assists). Hope Walinski stopped 25 shots.
UNH is now 6-5-1 overall and 3-5-0 in Hockey East while Providence is 6-6-0, 3-5-0 after the teams split the home-and-home weekend series.

FIRST PERIOD
- PC took a 2-0 lead on goals by Sirum 50 seconds into the game and again at 7:27.
- UNH responded less than 90 seconds later, however, on Verrier's goal at 8:53 to trim the deficit to 2-1. Juodikis was credited with the assist.
SECOND PERIOD
- Juodikis and Crowley-Cahill netted power-play goals at 7:46 and 10:37, respectively, to transform a one-goal deficit into a 3-2 lead.
- Alyson Hush (Scarborough, Ontario) and Andi Calderone (Kirkland, Quebec) set up Juodikis' tally.
- Callista Printz (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Chavonne Truter (Uxbridge, Ontario) had the assists on UNH's third goal.
- Audrey Knapp and Dylan Berman scored goals 57 seconds apart – at 15:42 and 16:39, respectively – to put the Friars back in front, 4-3.
THIRD PERIOD
- UNH went back on the power play at 1:37 of the final frame but did not record a shot.
- The Wildcats' fourth power play of the game began at 8:42 and Walinski stopped the only shot she faced during that PC penalty kill to keep the score 4-3 in favor of the home team.
- Sirum completed her hat trick at 14:11 to extend the lead to 5-3.
- New Hampshire pulled Blair in favor of an extra skater with 4:20 remaining.
- Walinski denied Sara Boucher (Burlington, Ontario) twice at the doorstep in the 18th minute.
- The 'Cats called time out with 41.3 seconds to play, but Kirchmair scored 20 seconds later to extend the advantage to 6-3.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- Juodikis recorded two goals and three assists for a total of five points in the weekend series.
- Verrier scored a goal both games this weekend and had four points on two goals and two assists.
- She was the top 'Cat in the faceoff circle with 12 wins and a .667 win percentage.
- Crowley-Cahill scored her first goal as a Wildcat. She netted five goals in 85 games as a Boston College Eagle before joining UNH this season.
- Senior Marina Alvarez (Center Moriches, N.Y.) led all skaters with four blocks. She was also credited with four blocks in Friday's 7-3 home win.
- UNH scored multiple power-play goals in a game for the first time this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK
- PC finished with the edge in both shots (36-28) and faceoffs (29-27).
- UNH went 2-for-4 on the power play and the Friars were 1-for-3.
- The Wildcats blocked 14 shot attempts and PC had 10 blocks.
