Jill Walker Leads Wildcats at Maine Black Bear Invitational to Open Season

ORONO, Maine – Junior Jill Walker (Simi Valley, Calif.) led the Wildcats with a third-place finish as the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team opened the season at the Maine Black Bear Invitational on the 5K course at Penobscot Valley Country Club. Army West Point (23 points) won the meet, while Maine (51 points) was second, UNH (64 points) was third and Bryant was fourth (106 points). Penobscot Valley Country Club is the home of the 2023 America East Championships.

- The Wildcats will compete at the Friar Invitational on Friday, Sept. 8 at the Mark Coogan XC Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Walker finished with a time of 18:01.9 to lead the Wildcats.
- Sophomore Delaney Hesler (Steep Falls, Maine) placed 12th with a time of 18:51.5, while senior Lily Doody (Lee, N.H.) was right behind at 13th at 18:52.2.
- Freshman Reagan Hoy (Surry, N.H.) had a strong collegiate debut as she was 22nd (19:27.3), while sophomore Zoe Catrambone (Cranston, R.I.) rounded out the top five scorers at 25th (19:45.8).
