Three Women’s Track and Field Athletes Earn CSC Academic All-District Team Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Graduate students Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.), Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.), and junior Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) of the University of New Hampshire women's track & field team were named to the 2022-23 Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-District Team, as selected by College Sports Communicators. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot and the first, second and third-team teams will be announced June 28.
Williams was a member of the 2022-23 indoor and outdoor track and field All-Academic Teams. Williams' 4.00 GPA as a special education major rank her tied for the top-grade point average in the America East while she has been named to the America East Honor Roll three times in the past, as well as earning the conference's Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award in 2022.
Williams outdoor season consisted of first place finishes in the shot put and hammer throw at the Vermont Quad Meet this spring while also placing first at the George Davis Invitational in the hammer. She placed third at the America East Championships in the hammer. During the winter, Williams placed sixth in the weight throw at IC4A/ECAC Championships, fifth at America East Championships, and fourth at New England Championships.
Yeomans has a 3.87 GPA as a nutritional science major and has earned spots on the 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022 America East Academic Honor Rolls. This spring she recorded a third-place finish at the America East Championships in the 5000m and a fifth-place finish in the 1500m. Yeomans had a fifth-place finish in the 5000m at New England Championships. In the indoor season, she came in third place in the mile at AE Championships.
Martell recently made her debut on the America East All-Academic Team with a 3.83 GPA as a justice studies and psychology major. She was named to the America East Honor Roll in 2021 and 2022 and was also named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team in 2021.
Martell raced in the 800m three times during the outdoor season, most recently, capturing the America East championship with a time of 2:08.24. Martell has also anchored UNH's 4x800m relay team to both America East and New England titles this month. In the winter, Martell had a first place run in the mile at the Joe Donahue Games.
The Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for combined performance in athletics and the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions.
