Two Former Wildcats to Start Quest for Stanley Cup

Brett Pesce and Warren Foegele ready for 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
DURHAM, N.H. – Two former University of New Hampshire men's hockey players will compete in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Defenseman Brett Pesce (2012-15) and the Carolina Hurricanes will take on the New York Islanders on Monday, April 17 at 7 PM on ESPN2. Pesce had an outstanding regular season with five goals and 25 assists for 30 points as he played in all 82 games. His 25 assists and 30 points are both career bests. Pesce is currently in his eighth season in the NHL with a total of 36 goals and 149 assists for 185 points. He has played in 40 career NHL playoff games with three goals and 11 assists for 14 points.
Then at 10 PM on ESPN, forward Warren Foegele (2014-15) and the Edmonton Oilers will start a first-round series with the LA Kings. He appeared in 67 games this season, with 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points. Foegele is playing in his sixth season in the NHL and his second with the Oilers. He has a total of 60 goals and 62 assists for 122 career points. Foegele has played in a combined 46 playoff games with the Oilers and the Carolina Hurricanes with seven goals and six assists for 13 points.
A total of five former Wildcats played in the NHL this season. James van Riemsdyk (2007-09) tallied 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points for Philadelphia as he played in his 14th NHL season and now has 300 goals and 291 assists for 591 career points.
Trevor van Riemsdyk (2011-14) appeared in his ninth NHL season and the third with the Washington Capitals. He had a career season as he played in 75 games with seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points.
Casey DeSmith (2011-14) appeared in his sixth season with the Pittsburgh Penguins as he posted a 3.17 goals against average and a .905 save percentage over 38 games.
