DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team has released their Spring 2023 season. Head Coach Steve Welham made the announcement on Friday morning. The Wildcats will play three games in Durham at Wildcat Stadium.
2023 Spring Schedule
April 1 vs. Northeastern (2 p.m.)
April 22 vs. Maine (1 p.m.)
April 29 vs. Dartmouth (2:30 p.m.)
"We are very much looking forward to our spring competitive season and feel we have three solid matches all at home to continue to showcase our entire team and our program's upward trajectory. This specific time of year allows us to focus on several areas of play within the spring semester from futsal, small sided and the full 11v11 game. Growth and development are key areas we are looking at from within our squad along with a high standard of play followed by excellence both on and off the field," said Welham on looking forward to the Spring season.
The Wildcats concluded the 2022 season 9-6-3 overall, 5-1-2 in the America East conference. With this record, UNH placed second in the conference to end the regular season.
The 2022 season proved to be a historic one with the Wildcats capturing their second America East title (2014,2022) and earning their second NCAA Tournament berth in program history (2014,2022). UNH defeated Binghamton in the America East Championship game on the road in Vestal, N.Y. in penalty kicks after regulation and overtime ended in a 4-4 tie. Freshman forward Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio) buried the winning PK to seal the deal on the Championship title.
During the season, women's soccer participated in National Girls and Women in Sports Day on campus and have other community service events planned. UNH and the America East Conference will send student coach Ande Allison to the NCAA Leadership Forum in Baltimore, MD this April (4/13-4/16). The 'Cats were also hard at work in the classroom during the historic season, posting a 3.6 team GPA in the Fall semester.
"It has already been a very exciting year (2022-2023) here in Wildcat Country for our Women's soccer program. We are focused and ready for our spring season and we are looking forward to the continued development and progress of our team."
