Senior tallies a career-high 9.950 on UB in Wildcats’ third-place finish vs Iowa State, TWU
DENTON, Texas – Senior Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) matched the best uneven-bar score in UNH gymnastics history with a 9.950, equaled her career high with a 9.850 on floor exercise, registered the team's top score in three events and won the all-around to pace the UNH gymnastics team to Sunday's third-place finish at the Texas Woman University Tri Meet in Kitty Magee Arena.
Iowa State won the meet with a 195.400, TWU placed second with a 193.225 and UNH (7-4, 2-0 EAGL) scored a 192.600.
Gorgenyi shook off a low score on balance beam in the opening rotation to tie Iowa State's Kaia Parker for third place on floor in the second event. The North Reading, Mass., native scored a 9.825 on vault for third place in the third rotation and saved the best for last with a first-place result on her program record-tying bar set.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•The beam proved challenging for the second consecutive week, as the 'Cats totaled a 46.725. Junior Sierra Bauman (Wallingford, Conn.) led UNH with a 9.675 for eighth place.
•Things improved dramatically on floor, where the Wildcats posted their highest score of the meet (48.775) behind Gorgenyi's strong effort. Sophomore Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) notched a 9.775 (eighth place), while Bauman and freshman Riley Himes (Orlando, Fla.) each recorded a 9.725 (T-11th).
•On vault, Gorgenyi's first place score was supported by sophomore Gracy Mowers (Middleton, Mass.), who hit for a 9.800 (T-4th), and Beaulieu (9.775, 6th). The 'Cats scored a 48.675 in that event.
•Gorgenyi's record-tying performance, which was also the highest score of her career in any event, was enough to edge Texas Woman's Brooke Ferrari (9.900) to top the podium. Beaulieu also set a new career benchmark with a 9.850 for a share of third place with ISU's Laura Cooke. Freshman Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.) and senior co-captain Kenadi Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) tied for seventh place (9.774), and UNH compiled a team mark of 48.425.
