Wildcats Score Season-High 195.900 in Stick It for the Cure Meet

UNH beats GWU & LIU; North Carolina wins EAGL quad meet
DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) set career highs on uneven bars, balance beam and all-around while seniors Robyn Kelley (Wakefield, Mass.) and Alyssa Worthington (West Warwick, R.I.) each registered a season-high beam score to power the UNH gymnastics team to its highest score of the season (195.900) and second place in Sunday's Stick It for the Cure quad meet at the Whittemore Center.
North Carolina totaled a 196.275 to edge the Wildcats, who sustained their first EAGL loss of the season but also posted league wins against George Washington (195.375) and Long Island (195.100) to improve to 9-5 on the season and 4-1 in the conference standings.
Those four schools will comprise half of the field for the 2023 EAGL Championship, presented by Mass General Brigham Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, at the Whittemore Center on Saturday, March 18 (1 p.m., 7 p.m.).
HOW IT HAPPENED
•UNH began the meet on floor exercise, where senior co-captain Kenadi Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) highlighted the lineup with a 9.850 for a share of fourth place. Freshman Riley Himes (Orlando, Fla.) matched her personal best (9.800) from the leadoff position to tie Beaulieu for ninth place, and the Wildcats combined for a 48.725. UNC's Julia Knower placed first on floor with a 9.925.
•Moving to vault in the second event, sophomore Gracy Mowers (Middleton, Mass.) set the pace with a team-leading 9.825 for a share of fifth place. It was Mowers' highest vault score in exactly one year: on Feb. 12, 2022, she set a personal best with a 9.900 against Brown in the Stick It for the Cure Meet at Lundholm Gym. UNH recorded a team mark of 48.725, and George Washington's Deja Chambliss placed first with a 9.925.
•The Wildcats hit their groove on bars in the third rotation. Beaulieu and senior Jacy Whitehead (Houston, Texas) went back-to-back with career-high performances, a 9.900 and a 9.850, respectively. Beaulieu had sole possession of fourth, while Whitehead tied North Carolina's Elizabeth Culton for fifth. Brown and senior Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) shared seventh place (9.825), and the 'Cats secured a 49.150. North Carolina's Lali Dekanoidze won bars with a 9.975.
•UNH saved its best for last, as it returned to form on beam with a season-high 49.300. Kelley anchored with a career-high 9.925 to place runner-up to Culton (9.950). Worthington was right behind with a 9.900 for third, while Beaulieu and freshman Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) tallied career-high 9.825 scores to tie for seventh. Culton scored a 9.950 for first place.
•Chambliss and Knower tied for the all-around championship (39.425), followed by Beaulieu (39.175).

Plus, in honor of 50 years of Title IX, members of all Wildcat women's athletics teams will be honored at the meet.

•UNH plays host to the 2023 EAGL Championship, presented by Mass General Brigham Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, on Saturday, March 18, with quad meets at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to determine the conference champion. George Washington, LIU, North Carolina, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Temple and Towson challenge the Wildcats, who have won EAGLs the last three times (2003, 2014, 2019) it was held at the Whitt.
