ORONO, Maine – Freshman guard Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) recorded a double double in the University of New Hampshire women's basketball 80-67 loss at UMaine Wednesday evening in Orono.

O'Connor scored 21 points and collected 12 rebounds for UNH in the contest.

The Wildcats' record falls to 7-20 (2-13 AE) and Maine's improves to 14-13 (10-5 AE).

FIRST QUARTER: 
·      Junior Paige Cote (Sanford, Maine) got the Wildcats on the board first in her home state after winning the tip off for UNH.
·      Maine took the lead off two three pointers and two free throws halfway through the quarter.
·      O'Connor had back-to-back threes for UNH to bring the 'Cats within one.
·      Both teams combined for seven 3-point baskets in the first quarter.

SECOND QUARTER: 
·      Maine opened the quarter with a 10-0 run to take a 36-21 lead.
·      Cote broke the run when she collected an offensive rebound and put it back for two.
·      Junior guard Adara Groman (Hopkinton, Mass.) sank all her free throw opportunities for the 'Cats in the second.
·      Maine took a 47-36 lead into halftime.

THIRD QUARTER: 
· Freshman guard Breezie Williams (Canton, Ohio) was fouled on a 3-point attempt, sinking all three of her shots from the line for the Wildcats.
· O'Connor had five rebounds in the third quarter, two offensive and three defensive. These contributed to her 12 total rebounds.

FOURTH QUARTER: 
· The Wildcats opened the quarter with a quick five points to bring them within 10 of the Black Bears.
· UNH outscored UMaine in the final quarter, 18-13.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

This was O'Connor's second double double of the season, her first coming against Bryant in January.
Three Wildcats went 100% from the foul line, contributing to a team 82.4% throughout the game; Williams, Cote, and O'Connor.
Three Wildcats also had points in the double digits; O'Connor, Groman and Williams.
