Juodikis and Blair Receive Hockey East Weekly Awards

AMESBURY, Mass. – Kira Juodikis (LaSalle, Ontario) and Sedona Blair (Eden Prairie, Minn.) of the University of New Hampshire women's hockey team were named Player of the Week and Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, respectively, by Hockey East on Monday.
The duo led UNH to a 2-0-0 record on season-opening weekend with a 6-1 victory at Saint Anselm on Sept. 30 and 4-2 win against Saint Michael's on Oct. 1.
The Wildcats return to action Oct. 6-7 for a two-game home series against eighth-ranked Quinnipiac University. Juodikis recorded four goals and an assist for a total of five points. The junior forward and captain scored two goals in the win at Saint Anselm and followed that with two goals and an assist in against Saint Michael's. Her other stats included 13 shots and a +4 rating.
Juodikis scored UNH's first goal of the season to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 7:07 of the first period at Saint Anselm. She struck again with 39.8 seconds on the clock to cap UNH's four-goal second period and record her 50th career point. Juodikis had five shots and a +2 rating against the Hawks.
In the game against Saint Michael's, Juodikis tied the game, 1-1, at 12:36 of the first period. She assisted on what proved to be the game-winning goal, which gave the 'Cats a 3-1 lead at 3:51 of the second period. Juodikis secured the victory when she muscled past a defender in the defensive zone and sent a long shot that eluded a pair of Purple Knights' skaters and went into the open net with 12.3 seconds to play. She recorded eight shots and a +2 rating.
This is the third career Hockey East Offensive Player of the Week award for Juodikis, who received the honor twice last season.
Blair went 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .906 save percentage in her first two collegiate games last weekend. Two of the three goals against Blair were power-play tallies, including a 5-on-3.
Blair stopped 18 of 19 shots to backbone the Wildcats to a 6-1 victory in the season opener at Saint Anselm in which she recorded a single-period high of nine saves in the opening stanza. The freshman goalie followed that with 11 saves in the 4-2 win against Saint Michael's.
