Kane Sets Career High Points, Rebounds in 56-51 Victory Over UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass. – Senior Brooke Kane (Derry, N.H.) scored a career high 22 points and collected 13 rebounds, completing her second double-double of the season as the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team secured their first conference victory over UMass Lowell, 56-51 Saturday evening in Lowell.
The Wildcats' record improves to 6-14 (1-7 AE) and UMass Lowell's falls to 2-17 (1-8 AE).

FIRST QUARTER:
· The River Hawks opened the quarter with a three, but freshman guard Breezie Williams (Canton, Ohio) was quick to respond with a step back three, evening the score.
· Junior guard Adara Groman (Hopkinton, Mass.) broke up a pass and went end to end to bury an easy layup, giving the 'Cats the lead.
SECOND QUARTER:
· Senior center Brooke Kane (Derry, N.H.) had four points in under two minutes, contributing to her eight points in the first half.
· Freshman guard Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) drained a late three, completing a 5-0 run to tie the game at 20.
THIRD QUARTER:
· In the first two minutes of the quarter, the 'Cats sank four vital free throws to tie the game at 26.
· UNH held UML from scoring for three and a half minutes, only allowing one point off a free throw.
FOURTH QUARTER:
· Williams made a clutch steal three minutes in and broke away for an easy layup. She was fouled on the play and successfully made the and one opportunity, tying the game at 42.
· Williams did the same on the next drive, forcing an and one for the three-point play.
· Kane scored eight more points in the fourth quarter alone, tying the game with a free throw and eventually putting the 'Cats up by three.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
· Kane scored a career high 22 points and collected a career high 13 rebounds, completing her second double-double of the season.
· The 'Cats shot 85.7% from the free throw line.
· Williams sank a career high six free throws, going 100% from the line.
