Wildcats Rally Past Central Michigan, Temple to Win Home Tri-Meet

UNH parlays strong floor finish to come-from-behind triumph
DURHAM, N.H. – Seniors Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.), Robyn Kelley (Wakefield, Mass.) and Kenadi Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) all posted first-place event scores, and sophomore Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) won her first career all-around to highlight the UNH gymnastics team's tri-meet victory against Central Michigan and Temple on Sunday at the Whittemore Center Arena.
UNH (2-1, 1-0 EAGL) trailed through the first three rotations before finishing strong on floor exercise (48.850) to cap the come-from-behind win with a 194.475 to edge CMU (194.100) and Temple (193.200). The head-to-head win over the Owls counted in the EAGL regular-season standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Gorgenyi anchored the vault lineup and registered a team-leading 9.825 to finish runner-up to Temple's Ashley Glynn. Beaulieu totaled a personal-best 9.775 for third place, and freshman Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) tied for fourth place (9.750). The Wildcats scored a 48.500 in the first rotation to tie CMU (balance beam); Temple took the early lead with a 48.625 on uneven bars.
•In the second rotation, Gorgenyi scored a 9.850 on bars to earn a share of first place with Temple's Sarah Stallings and CMU's Luciana Alvarado-Reed. Beaulieu stepped up with her second straight career high (9.825) to tie for fourth place with CMU's Adriana Bustelo. The 'Cats scored a 48.775 on bars for a two-event total of 97.275, which was second to Central Michigan (97.350). Temple slipped to third (96.950).
•Anchoring on beam in front of the Whittemore Center crowd for the first time since March 8, 2020, Kelley delivered with a 9.875 that equaled Bustelo atop the podium. Beaulieu's third personal best (9.775) earned a share of third place, and the Wildcats' 48.350 beam score built the team total to 145.625, one-tenth behind CMU (145.725) headed for the final rotation.
•A late lineup change put Riley Himes (Orlando, Fla.) in the leadoff spot on floor, and the freshman responded with a PB 9.800 to set the pace and tie for fourth place. Gorgenyi then matched her career high with a 9.850 (T-2nd) before Brown's performance topped all competitors (9.875) and helped the Wildcats complete the win.
•Beaulieu won the all-around with a PB 38.925, followed by Central Michigan's Hannah Demers (38.775) and Temple's Hannah Stallings (38.425).

•UNH will host the 2023 EAGL Championship at the Whittemore Center on Saturday, March 18, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Eight teams –four per session—will compete for the league championship. UNH, which will be part of the 7 p.m. quad-meet, takes on George Washington, Long Island, North Carolina, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Temple and Towson. The Wildcats have won EAGLs each of the last three seasons (2019, 2014, 2003) they hosted at the Whitt.
