DURHAM, N.H. - Rising sophomore middle-distance runner Jill Walker (Simi Valley, Calif.) of the University of New Hampshire women's cross country/track & field team is set to compete in the 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships on Saturday, June 25 at 5:45pm PST/8:45pm EST at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Walker, who will compete in the 3000 meter race, is one of 13 entrants in the event, which includes eight collegiate runners.
She placed second in the 3000 meter run at 9:38.90 at the ECAC Championships in the outdoor season and also earned gold in the 5000 meter race (17:04.92) at the America East Championships at the beginning of May, as well as a first-place finish in the 5000 in the Pre-Conference Meet at UMass with a mark of 17:24.26. Walker was also named the America East Cross Country Rookie of the Year in the fall.Â
"This is a fitting conclusion to Jill Walker's fantastic freshman year at UNH," said UNH head coach Robert Hoppler.
The championship features the best under 20 year old track and field athletes in the nation, competing for the opportunity to represent the United States at the U20 World Championship in Columbia later this summerÂ
