'Cats paced by Walker and Yeomans at Pre-Conference Meet on Saturday at UMass

AMHERST, Mass. – Junior Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) and freshman Jill Walker (Simi Valley, Calif.) of the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team posted a pair of victories for the Wildcats in the 1500-meter run and the 5000-meter run, respectively on Saturday afternoon at the pre-conference meet at the UMass Track & Field Complex.
Yeomans picked in the win in the 1500 with a time of 4:27.71, while Walker turned in an outstanding performance in the 5000 with a mark of 17:24.26.
"Nicole Yeomans continues with her great year winning the 1500 and Jill Walker is having a great freshman year winning the 5k," said UNH head coach Robert Hoppler.
Freshman Olivia Chamberlain (Warnerville, N.Y.) earned a second-place finish in the triple jump at 38'3.3" and junior Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) performed well in the hammer throw with a mark of 181 feet, which was second best among her competitors in the event. Williams also finished in seventh place with a throw of 124'5" in the discus.
Junior Danielle Heine (Waverly, Pa.) finished in a tie for fifth in the pole vault with jump of 11'1.75", while Natalie Fraser (Gilford, N.H.) also finished fifth in the 400-meter dash at 59.72.
UNH's 4x400 relay team comprised of Fraser, Scott, Kelly Hamlin (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and Autumn Agri (Stratham, N.H.) earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 4:02.75.
Cailey Archer (Berthoud, Colo.) took home sixth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.46, while Zakiya Scott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished sixth in the 200-meter dash at 25.70.
Freshman Olivia Valianti (Mansfield, Mass.) posted a 112'4.75" throw in the javelin, which was seventh best among the field.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, May 7 at the America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Vermont in Burlington.
