Plaza & Genet Record First-Place Finishes on Tuesday Afternoon

Plaza won the 800 meters and Genet placed first in the 110-meter hurdles.
RESULTS
WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Zack Plaza (Auburn, N.H.) won the 800 meters and senior Brian Genet (Merrimack, N.H.) placed first in the 110-meter hurdles as the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team competed versus Assumption, Holy Cross and Rhode Island on Tuesday afternoon.

Plaza placed first in the 800 meters with a personal record time of 1:51.17, while freshman Aidan Shea (Amherst, Mass.) was third with a time of 1:52.89.

Genet took the 110-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 16.08.
Â
Sophomore Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) tallied a second-place finish in the discus with a career-best throw of 52.49 meters.

Senior Patrick Brogioli (Milford, Mass.) was second in the hammer throw at a personal-best 53.23 meters, while junior Andrew Fleming (Acton, Mass.) was third at 52.83 meters.

Junior Forest MacKenzie (Deerfield, N.H.) placed second in the 1,500 meters with a career-best time of 4:05.71 and senior Matthew Walker (Westerly, R.I.) was third at a personal-best time of 4:06.68.

Junior Kenney McElroy (West Linn., Ore.) recorded a time of 50.54 for a third-place finish in the 400 meters.

Senior Emmanuel Nkounkou (Dover, N.H.) was third in the long jump (6.54 meters) and third in the high jump (1.90 meters).

The 4x400-meter relay team of Shea, McElroy, Plaza and junior William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.) placed second with a time of 3:29.92, just behind Rhode Island (3:29.19).

The Wildcats will return to action at the Penn Relays on Friday, April 29 and at the Pre-Conference Meet at UMass on Saturday, April 30.
