DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Hannah Devine (Hamilton, N.J.) and senior Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii) both won a pair of individual events but the University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team was defeated 165-135 by Northeastern University on Saturday at Swasey Pool.
Devine swept the distance freestyle events as the fastest swimmer in both the 500-yard with a time of 5 minutes, 8.26 seconds and 1,000 in 10:29.94. Lum, meanwhile, could not be beat in the breaststroke as she was first to touch the wall in both the 100 (1:05.79) and 200 (2:22.5).
Junior Abby McKinney (Westfield, N.J.) also recorded a first-place finish with a time of 1:54.88 in the 200 free.
"It was a great meet and we ended our first semester with some excellent racing against Northeastern that brought out our best," UNH head coach Josh Willman said. "We had some fast swims from Jamy Lum, Shelby Kasse and our whole distance group of (Carolyn) Nelson, (Paige) Edmier and (Hannah) Devine did well."
"We're looking forward to break and our winter training camp in Puerto Rico in January," he added.
