'Cats Place Third at ECAC/IC4A Championships on Friday

Graduate student Nicole Yeomans was UNH's top finisher in the 6k race with a time of 22:04.8
BRONX, N.Y. -- The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team earned a third place finish at the ECAC/IC4A Championships on Friday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.
Graduate student Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) earned a 24th place finish with a mark of 22:04.8 in the 6k race, while graduate student Kira Nolan (Richmond, Vt.) finished right behind Yeomans in 27th place with a time of 22:06.4.
Freshman Delaney Hesler (Steep Falls, Maine) registered a time of 22:16.4, which was the 36th best finish in the race, while junior Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) added a 22:19.9, which was 38th among the field.
"The meet went very well today, we are very happy with the result," said UNH head coach Robert Hoppler. "I think the thing that excites me the most is this group of athletes has been working really hard and really has committed themselves to being the best runners they can be. It was great to have a meet where those efforts were validated."
Junior Lily Doody (Lee, N.H.) rounded out the UNH entries with a time of 22:33.3 on the day for the 'Cats.
UNH returns to racing on Sunday, October 16 at Vermont. Meet time is 1 p.m. in St. Alban's, Vt. at Hard'ack Recreation Area.
