Sutton was the fastest runner in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.71 seconds, and then he bested the field in the 200m in 23.72 seconds.
"Obviously we were excited to have our first home meet since the onset of COVID, it's been a long two years, it was great to see the teams compete in the Paul Sweet Oval," said UNH head coach Robert Hoppler. "It was exciting to win a track meet, I thought we had some really strong performances across the board. Our throwers, jumpers and hurdlers really performed at a very high level, as well as our middle distance in the 3000 and the mile. We had a number of kids out there perform well and win their events, we are looking forward to continuing on with the season."
Sophomore Kenney McElroy (West Linn, Ore.) was in second place through two splits, but outsprinted teammate Jack Kennefick (Walpole, Mass.) to win the 500m with a time of 1:09.52. Kennefick crossed the finish line in 1:11.38.
Junior Dillon Adamy (Clinton, N.J.) bested three Holy Cross runners to capture first place in the mile with a time of 4:27.71.
Forest MacKenzie (Deerfield, N.H.), another junior, led UNH's 1-2-3 finish in the 3,000m with a time of 9:00.21. He was followed by seniors Matthew Walker (Westerly, R.I.) in 9:03.14 and Andrew LePage (Morrisonville, N.Y.) in 9:21.59.
Senior Michael Monahan (Tewksbury, Mass.) was the lone Wildcat entry in the 55m hurdles, but he got the victory with a time of 7.79 seconds.
Senior Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) cleared a height of 6-feet, 7.5 inches to win the high jump.
Sophomore Andrew Kelly (Portsmouth, N.H.) held the lead through all six rounds to win the long jump. He recorded the top mark of 20-10.75 in the fourth round.
Classmate Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) also led through all six rounds of the shot put with a top effort of 50-3.5 in round five.
Senior Patrick Brogioli (Milfrod, Mass.) bested the field in the weight throw with a mark of 52-11. He recorded a throw in round one that was surpassed only by himself twice – in round five and again on his last throw.
Senior Emmanuel Nkounkou (Dover, N.H.) was runner-up in both the high jump (6-3.5) and long jump (20-6.5).
Junior Andrew Fleming (Acton, Mass.) placed second in both the shot put (47-3.5) and weight throw (48-6.75).
New Hampshire returns to action Jan. 28-29 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic (Boston University). The Wildcats' next home meet is Feb. 19 against UMass Lowell.
