Colbert placed 30th in the discus with a throw of 161' 4".
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Graduate student Alyssa Colbert (Smithfield, R.I.) of the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team placed 30th in the discus throw at the 2021 NCAA Track and Field Preliminary Round at the University of North Florida on Saturday. The top 12 advanced to the NCAA Championship from June 9-12 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Colbert placed 30th in the discus throw out of 48 athletes with a distance of 161' 4" on her second throw. Her first attempt was a throw of 133' 1", while her third attempt was 145' 7".
Colbert concludes her outstanding season in which she set the school record in the discus throw four times and five times total for her career. She won gold at the America East Championship on May 2 with her best throw of the season at 169' 2" which qualified her for the NCAA Prelims. She also took gold at the New England Championships with a throw of 157' 8" on May 15. This was her first time competing at the NCAA Prelims.

Tonight at 7:35 p.m., freshman Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) will compete in the 800-meter quarterfinals. The top 12 will qualify for the NCAA Championship from June 9-12 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. On Thursday, Martell placed 10th out of 48 athletes with a school-record time of 2:04.31 in the 800 meters to advance to the quarterfinals.
