Wildcats Win CCSU Mini Meet

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team placed first out of 13 teams to win the 18th annual Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on the 3K course at Stanley Quarter Park on Friday with a team score of 48 points. Quinnipiac was second with 71 points.
Freshman Jill Walker (Simi Valley, Calif.) led the Wildcats with a sixth-place finish out of 89 runners. The five point scorers for UNH placed in the top-14.
This is the second straight time UNH has won the CCSU Mini Meet as the Wildcats placed first in 2019. UNH also won the event in 2017 and 2007.

- The Wildcats will host the America East Championships at College Woods on Oct. 29 at noon. The Wildcats have won six out of the last eight conference championships and seven overall (2003, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019). The seven titles are the most by any current America East team and are the second-most all-time.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Walker posted her team-leading sixth-place finish with a time of 9:46.0, while senior Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) placed seventh at 9:51.5.
- Graduate student Annemarie Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) finished 10th with a time of 9:54.6 and senior Kira Nolan (Richmond, Vt.) was right behind her at 9:54.9 for 11th.
- Freshman Addison Cox (Northwood, N.H.) clinched the win for UNH as she placed 14th (10:01.3) giving the Wildcats a final score of 48 points.
- Senior Lauren Dean (Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.) tallied a 15th place finish on a time of 10:02.1.
- Sophomore Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) was 32nd (10:29.0).
- Sophomore Silvia Caddell (Salem, N.H.) won the sub varsity competition with a time of 10:09.6 as the Wildcats placed first with a total score of 21.
