"There's so much fuel in the fire right now because our season was cut short, like many others, so we're just excited that we get the opportunity to get out on the floor again and compete," Bruck Ayotte said in a recent episode of the UNH WildCast podcast.

The 2020 season was halted last March due to the COVID-19 pandemic before the Wildcats could defend the EAGL Championship they won at the Whittemore Center in 2019. UNH shared the inaugural regular-season EAGL title with North Carolina State last season.
The 2021 Wildcats have adopted the mantra #ChallengeAccepted for the new campaign.
"There have been so many obstacles thrown in their way... it's a challenge, but they've accepted it, they're thriving with it... we'll take whatever you throw at us, we're going to throw it in our fire, make it bigger and we're going to show you what we can really do," Bruck Ayotte said.
The Wildcats' co-captains are seniors Lauren Diggan (Sinking Spring, Pa.) and Clare Hampford (Trumbull, Conn.).
"They're just great leaders," Bruck Ayotte added. "Clare is very vocal and leads very well in the gym. Diggy leads a lot by example, especially with the adversity she was dealt with the achilles injury... but she's looking stronger and better than ever... and Clare, to have her energy and her motivation for the team, she continues to make the team want to be better and strive for all the excellence they deserve."
EAGL welcomes two new schools – Long Island and Temple- which brings league membership to eight programs along with George Washington, North Carolina, N.C. State, Pittsburgh and Towson. The league coaches have designated one specific matchup against each of their seven league rivals as counting EAGL conference meets.
