Champagne Captures 5k Title at ECAC/IC4As

The senior claims gold for the second straight meet.
BOSTON – University of New Hampshire senior distance runner Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) claimed her first career ECAC/IC4A Individual championship this Saturday at the 2020 ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships hosted at Boston University.
Champagne took first overall in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:48.49, a new career-best time. This comes after her gold-medal finish at the America East Indoor Championships in the 3000m.
Champagne was joined on the podium by fellow senior Caroline Mahoney (Bedford, Mass.) who took third in the event with a new personal best time of 16:59.13.
In the pentathlon, senior Bosibori Mosongo (Indianapolis, Ind.) took fourth overall with a new personal best score of 3447, highlighted by her fourth-place shot put finish of 34'9.5".
Several more events will feature Wildcats on Sunday, including the 4x800-meter relay finals; the America East scoring team of Heather Linscott (Hingham, Mass.), Cailey Archer (Berthoud, Colo.), Shaylyn Saunders (Hudson, N.H.) and Brianne Moss (Shrewsbury, Mass.) qualified for the finals with a time of 9:03.64.
The Wildcats sit in fifth place in the team scores after day one with 21 points.
