The two conference champions are added to the league’s All-Academic squad.
BOSTON - Two University of New Hampshire women's indoor track and field athletes were named to the 2019-20 America East All-Academic Team, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. Â Graduate Student Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) and senior Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) were honored for their outstanding efforts on and off the track.Â
Â
Champagne, who took home her first America East Championship in the 3000-meter run a few weeks ago, also managed to achieve a GPA of 3.65 as a Business Administration major qualifying herself for the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll in addition to the All-Academic Team. This is Champagne's third time qualifying for the Commissioner's honor roll and her first time on the All-Academic Team.
Â
Murdock, who is a graduate student majoring in nursing, achieved a GPA of 4.0. On the track, Murdock has had an incredible year with the Wildcats, capping off her indoor career winning her sixth America East Championship, as she won the 5000-meter run and is now on the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fourth straight year and the fifth time in her career. Murdock was named the America East Fall Scholar-Athlete for Women's Cross Country earlier this academic year.
Â
Champagne and Murdock and the rest of the Wildcats return to action later this month with the start of the outdoor track & field season at the Raleigh Relays on Friday and Saturday, March 27 and 28.
