'Cats Prepare for EAGL Meet at Pitt (Saturday, Jan. 11, 2 p.m., ACCNX)

DURHAM, N.H.– Fresh off its season-opening road victory at Illinois State last weekend, the UNH gymnastics team (1-0) gets its first taste of EAGL competition when it squares off against the University of Pittsburgh on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. (ACC Network Extra) at Fitzgerald Field House.

•UNH plays host to Southern Utah in its first home meet of the season Saturday, Jan. 18 (7 p.m.) on Superhero Night at Lundholm Gym. The first 100 fans in attendance will receive a superhero cape and, following the meet, fans will meet the Wildcats during an autograph session where they will have the chance to collect the first set of trading cards from the freshman gymnasts. HEAD-TO-HEAD IN '19– UNH faced Pittsburgh three times in 2019 and came away victorious in each encounter. The Wildcats outscored the Panthers, 194.925-193.725, in a quad meet at Lundholm Gym on Jan. 18, the 'Cats edged the Panthers, 195.050-193.850, in a five-team meet at Towson on March 17 and UNH scored a 195.950 when it won the EAGL Championship at the Whittemore Center on March 23; the Panthers finished fourth (194.900).

PRESEASON NO. 1- The Wildcats earned the No. 1 ranking in the EAGL Preseason Poll, which consists of voting among the league's six head coaches. UNH, which captured the 2019 EAGL Championship at the Whittemore Center last March, received 32 points and three first-place votes to outdistance George Washington and North Carolina State, which tied for second place (27 points).

HEAD START– UNH was the lone EAGL school to compete the opening weekend of the college gymnastics season. Its 193.400 score was good for a No. 18 ranking among the 25 teams appearing in the first RoadtoNationals.com Top 25 of the season.
