Wildcats win third league championship at the Whittemore Center
DURHAM, N.H. – Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) matched the highest uneven-bar score (9.950) in East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championship history, and the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team won the third EAGL Championship in school history at the same place it won in 2003 and 2014, the Whittemore Center, before a crowd of 2,216 on Saturday.
The Wildcats (23-4, 11-2 EAGL) scored a 195.950 to edge runner-up George Washington, which scored a 195.825. North Carolina State finished third (195.275), followed by Pittsburgh (194.900), North Carolina (193.950) and Towson (193.450).
UNH went a perfect 14-0 at home this season.
Mulligan equaled the EAGL Championship bar scoring record for the second straight season and won the league bar title for the third consecutive year. The senior, who matched her personal best on bars for the second time this season (March 8 vs Yale), became the first EAGL gymnast in history to register three straight bar championships. Further, the regular-season bar champion is only the second EAGL gymnast to ever win an event at EAGLs three straight seasons (Courtney Bumpers, North Carolina, floor, 2004-06).
