Gajewski, Murdock Pace ‘Cats in Day 2 of Conference Championships

The Wildcats finished seventh in team standings.
BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire women's track & field team wrapped up the America East Indoor Championship weekend with new career highs and several top-eight finishes, as the Wildcats finished seventh in the team standings with 53 points.
Fifth-year Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.), fresh off a distance medley relay win on Friday, followed that up with an all-conference finish in the 800 meter run, taking second place with a finish of 2 minutes, 9.34 seconds. DMR relay parter, senior Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) followed up her championship performance from Friday with a fourth place finish in the mile, with a time of 5:04.76.
Junior Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) ran her second ever sub-10 minute 3000m time, setting a new career best at 9:53.30, good for a fourth place finish.
The meet was won by UAlbany, who swept the track and field championships with 213 points on the women's side and 178.5 on the men's side.

- The relay team of Madeleine Brandon (Killingworth, Conn.), Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.), Emileigh Glode (Boxborough, Mass.), and Danielle Gajewski took fourth in the 4x800 relay, with a time of 9:12.31.
- Jessica Hackett (Dover, N.H.) took fifth in the 500m dash in 1:16.31.
- Michaella Conery (Concord, N.H.) took sixth in the mile, with a time of 5:05.44.
- Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) followed up her scoring mark in the weight throw on Friday with a seventh place finish in the shot put, with a distance of 42 feet.
- Madeleine Brandon also scored in the 1000m run, finishing seventh with a new career high of 2:57.87. She was followed by Nicole Yeomans in eighth with a time of 2:58.24.
- In the 4x400 relay, the team of Zakiya Scott (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Jessica Hackett, Lauren Dean, (Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.), and Chloe Holowachuk (Smithfield, R.I.) scored with an eighth place finish; the team finished in 3:55.48.
