HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Blue Devils got the first points of the contest, but New Hampshire answered right back with an opening three-pointer by Ashley Storey, and the Wildcats got all the way up to an early 10-4 lead after a quick layup off a rebound by Amanda Torres, assisted by Lexi Greffen (Portsmouth, R.I.) who got the rebound.
- Despite a late 8-1 run by the Wildcats in the second, CCSU climbed back to narrow the gap to 18-13 at the first quarter break.
- After a steady back and forth second quarter, CCSU came back to take the lead at 33-27, their first lead since the first basket of the game.
- New Hampshire answered that by closing out the second quarter on a 10-0 run of their own; a big three-pointer by Ashley Storey halted the Blue Devils' run, followed by Ivy Gogolin (Hopkinton, Mass.) who got a three the old fashioned way with the hoop plus the harm to tie the game at 33-33; UNH would go on to lead 37-33 at halftime.
- New Hampshire outscored CCSU 15-6 in the third quarter to maintain the lead at 52-39. UNH saw scoring from Storey (six points) Héléna Delaruelle (Enghien-les-Bains, France), Torres, and Soucy (all with three points) in the third.
- The Blue Devils opened up the fourth on a 7-2 run to cut the gap to 55-46, but a final run by UNH capped off by a fastbreak layup by Torres put the lead at 61-46 forcing a CCSU time out.
