Curran Leads ‘Cats at NEICAAA Championships

Wildcats finished 12th in the team score.
JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team took a 12th place team finish at the 2019 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletics Association (NEICAAA) cross country championships held Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park in Jamaica Plain, Mass.
The Wildcats sent a squad of mostly underclassmen ahead of the team's championship season to finalize their conference championship roster, and got several freshman runners the championship experience they'll need to make that roster.
Freshman William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.) was the top finisher for the Wildcats, finishing the 8k in 25:46.9, just four seconds off his personal best.
New Hampshire finished 12th out of 25 in the team score with 315 points. The overall race was won by Ezra Mutai of American International; Providence College took the New England championship with a team score of 42.
UP NEXT:
The Wildcats head to the Princeton Invitational next Saturday, October 19; they follow that up with the CCSU Mini Meet on October 25 leading up to the America East Championship meet hosted by UAlbany on November 2nd.

- Freshman Kenny McElroy (West Linn, Ore.) was the second Wildcat to cross the finish line at 26:08.9¸ finishing 59th.
- Junior Dylan McLaughlin (Moultonborough, N.H.) took 70th with a time of 26:22.7.
- Freshman Aidan O'Hern (Concord, N.H.) finished 75th with a time of 26:27.2.
- Finishing 79th in UNH's final scoring spot was freshman Dillon Adamy 26:30.7
- Rounding out the UNH lineup was freshman Aidan Toth (Newington, Conn.) and junior Ryan Spelman (Franklin, Mass.) finishing in 26:51.9adn 26:54.6, respectively. Their times were good for a 109th place finish for Toth and 111th for Spelman.
