‘Cats Head to NEICAAA’s Ahead of Post-Season Meets
10/10/2019 5:02:00 PM | Men's Cross Country
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team, coming off a team win at the Paul Short Run college brown race, will send a squad of runners back to Franklin Park; the Wildcats take on the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association's 2019 cross country championship.
After a strong showing at Lehigh, New Hampshire is looking to keep improving, getting more top runners championship-meet experience while also exposing some younger runners to a top-level meet.
MEET INFO:
Date: October 12, 2019
Start Time: Varsity – 12:30 P.M. | Sub-Varsity – 1:15 P.M. | (8k)
Location: Franklin Park – Jamaica Plain, Mass.
LAST TIME OUT:
Senior Nicolas Sevilla-Connelly (Chester, N.H.) took first in the College Brown 8k race at the 46th annual Paul Short Run. The men's cross country team won the College Brown 8k race with a team score of 161 points.
Sevilla-Connelly finished first with a time of 24:26.9, a new personal best in the 8k by almost a full minute. He was followed by UNH's second top-10 finisher, junior James Wilkes (Concord, N.H.) who took fourth with a personal best time of 24:53.7.
The Wildcats finished 65 points ahead of the next two teams in the standings, a tie between So. Connecticut State and Binghamton at 226.
FROM THE COACH:
"Expectations are for our runners to try and run as fast as they did on a perfect day at Lehigh last weekend. We're trying to take the younger group on our roster and see who can make their way into the top 10 of our roster, to be a part of our conference team. We'll have to see what they do; we've got some guys coming down sick, but everyone who's healthy is ready to race."
