Holmes, East's No. 1 Classic Racer, Competes at NCAAs (Day 2)

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Peter Holmes (Tahoe City, Calif.), the No. 1-ranked East skier in classical racing during the EISA Carnival season, represents the University of New Hampshire ski team in Thursday's men's 10K classical race at the 2018 National Collegiate Skiing Championships, hosted by the University of Colorado.
Holmes, a senior, posted two 10K classic victories this season --at Vermont (Feb. 3) and at Dartmouth (Feb. 9). The All-East First Team skier will start from the No. 31 position (out of 40) at Howelsen Hill Ski Area in a race that is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET.

The women's 5K classic gets underway at 11 a.m., but there are no Wildcats participating in that Nordic race.
UNH is in 11th place with 27.5 points following Wednesday's giant slalom races at Steamboat Springs Ski Resort.

WHAT'S NEXT
•Howelsen Hill remains the setting for Friday's third day of racing, with UNH's four alpine racers returning to the forefront for nighttime slalom races. Lisa Wedsjö (Saltsjöbaden, Sweden), Geneviève Frigon (Laval, Quebec) and Sohvi Virkkula (Salla, Finland) are scheduled to compete in the women's SL at 8:45 p.m. ET. Patrick Kenney (Hingham, Mass.) will race in the men's SL at 9:30 p.m. ET.
