"It's really amazing how much work she puts in with her athletics and academics," UNH alpine head coach Brian Blank said. "It's not just her. The entire team has this culture of really wanting to excel in both athletics and academics. It's important to the whole team and everyone takes it quite seriously. They work together, they help each other, they support each other. Nobody wants to bring the team's GPA down. It's the same with athletics, they don't want to bring the team down either way. They compete with their academics as well," Blank added. Â
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships."I think for me, skiing has always helped me academically, and the other way around, too," Olsson said. "I like having both to focus on. You're not having a good day in school every day and you're not having a good day skiing every day. It's nice to flip-flop a little between them. I love being in college and getting to do both. It's great having the support from the school for both."Â Â
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completeFor more information on the Elite 90 award winners, log on to https://www.ncaa.com/elite-90.
