Wildcats aim for 29th straight victory at Lundholm Gym
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire gymnastics team will host its first meet of the season when it takes on the University of Bridgeport on Saturday, Jan. 13 (5 p.m.) in Lundholm Gym.
The meet was originally scheduled for 7 p.m., but the meet was moved to accommodate fans that wanted to watch the New England Patriots' home playoff game Saturday night at 8:15 p.m.
The Wildcats will look to build on the success they achieved in their season opener this past Saturday when they placed second with a score of 194.175 in the Little Boston Invitational at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.

WILDCATS NOTEBOOK
- The Wildcats (194.175) placed runner-up to Temple (194.875) and defeated Maryland (194.100) and Towson (193.800) at the Little Boston Invitational on Jan. 6.
- Senior captain Casey Lauter earned EAGL Specialist of the Week honors Jan. 9 as she placed first in the Little Boston Invitational on balance beam with a 9.925, her highest score since Jan. 19, 2016. This score also tied for the highest mark by any collegiate gymnast on balance beam this season and is tied for the eighth-highest score in UNH history.
- Following her impressive collegiate debut this past weekend, freshman Lauren Diggan earned EAGL Rookie of the Week honors. She recorded a 9.750 on vault, a 9.725 on floor, and a 9.700 on bars.
- The Wildcats are the 19th-ranked team in this week's RoadToNationals.com poll, which is the highest-ranking for an EAGL team through Jan. 11.
- In the Little Boston Invitational, the Wildcats recorded a score of 49.150 on balance beam, which is tied for the second highest mark in the nation through Jan. 11.
- The Wildcats currently have the nation's 14th-ranked score on uneven bars (48.700).
- UNH has had its schedule changed in each of its first two weekends. Weather forced a cancellation of a scheduled trip to Arizona for a quad-meet that was supposed to include Denver and Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights also had to cancel their trip west.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Bridgeport has competed once this season when it defeated Southern Connecticut State University, 192.650-186.150.
- The Purple Knights are ranked 32nd in the nation.
- The top performers for the Purple Knights include Nina Whittaker on vault and floor, Kelsey Campbell on uneven bars, and Maya Reimers on balance beam.
- UNH and Bridgeport will meet again March 8 (7 p.m.) at the Wheeler Recreation Center in Bridgeport, Conn.
- The Wildcats and Purple Knights split their two meetings last season. UNH bested UB at the Rutgers quad-meet, 193.425-191.225, on Jan. 7, and Bridgeport edged New Hampshire, 194.475-193.975, the following weekend in a tri-meet at Brown (Jan. 14).
NEXT HOME MEET
- UNH will host George Washington on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. The meet is themed "Gimme a Break" as the Wildcats seek to break their home attendance record. Fans in attendance will receive a free Kit Kat bar. The Wildcats have defeated their last 28 opponents in Durham in a streak that dates back to March 8, 2014. For tickets, CLICK HERE.
