Watkins (floor) and Diggan (vault, bars) recorded career-highs
DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Ava Watkins (Cherry Hill, N.J.) won the floor exercise with a score of 9.825 in her first collegiate floor performance as the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team was defeated by Bridgeport (192.950-191.750) at Lundholm Gym on Saturday, Jan. 13.
NEXT HOME MEET
- UNH will host George Washington on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. The meet is themed "Gimme a Break" as the Wildcats seek to break their home attendance record. Fans in attendance will receive a free Kit Kat. For tickets CLICK HERE.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST ROTATION
- UNH had the top three performers on vault and recorded a team score of 48.835. Senior Marissa Toci (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and junior Nicole O'Leary (Newtown, Conn.) led the team and finished first in the meet as they each registered a 9.800. Lauren Diggan (Sinking Spring, Pa.) finished in third place with a career-high 9.775.
SECOND ROTATION
- Diggan recorded a meet-high 9.825 on uneven bars, which was also her career-high. Junior Danielle Doolin (Medford Lakes, N.J.) finished with a 9.725 as the Wildcats recorded a team score of 47.425.
THIRD ROTATON
- Senior co-captain Casey Lauter (Northport, N.Y.) recorded a 9.875 on balance beam, the highest score in any event during the meet. Senior Lia Breeden (York, Pa.) notched a 9.800, which helped the Wildcats record a 47.750.
FOURTH ROTATION
- The Wildcats held the top three performers on floor en route to a team score of 47.750. Watkins led the way with a 9.825. Breeden finished second with a 9.800 and O'Leary came in third with a 9.775.
