Dion Scores 18 in 69-55 Loss to Albany

DURHAM, N.H. – Senior Daniel Dion (Cedar Park, Texas) scored 18 points as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team (14-10, 5-5 AE) fell 69-55 to the University at Albany (15-11, 6-5 AE) in Lundholm Gym Monday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UNH jumped out to a 5-2 lead early in the first quarter on a Dion 3-pointer and a layup in the paint. The 'Cats then went on a 10-4 run to increase their lead to 15-6 with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. Albany fought back, and tied the game at 17 with under seven minutes to go in the half. Albany controlled the pace of the game, and pushed their lead to 27-20 before the half ended. After a layup by Camara, the Wildcats headed to the locker room trailing 29-22. UNH went cold to finish the half, going the final two minutes without a basket.
Albany came out firing in the second half and increased their lead to 42-30 with 15:54 to play. David Nichols scored six points for the Great Danes in the stretch. The Wildcats answered with seven straight points to force a Will Brown timeout to reduce the deficit to five, 42-37. Shortly after, UNH evened the score, 45-45, on a David Watkins three with 11:32 to play. New Hampshire thought they had Albany cornered, but the Great Danes rattled off 10 straight points to reclaim a cushion that continued for the remainder of the game.
