HOW IT HAPPENED
UNH opened the contest scoring on their first two possessions, beginning with an inside layup from Camara followed by a Leissner pull-up jumper. The Wildcats found early success from inside as Leissner and Camara scored 12 of the team's first 15 points. A pair of threes from Keon Burns (Beaverton, Ore.) and Kijana Love (Cibolo, Texas) put UNH up 18-16 halfway through the first half, but an 11-0 Boston run shifted leads. A Leissner free throw followed by a put-back layup cut the Terrier run with 6:00 remaining in the half, as Camara continued to work inside, connecting on consecutive layups from the left block to make it a 27-26 game. A late Boston run extended their lead to 38-31 going into halftime.
The Wildcats opened the second half with an inside layup from Leissner, but it was Boston coming out of the break scoring on their first four possessions. A pair of corner threes from Dion and Love tightened the deficit, and Camara's dominance inside made it a 50-49 game with 12:00 remaining. Consecutive triples from Smith tied the game at 57 with just over 8:00 to play. The 'Cats returned to playing through the post, as Leissner began heating up. Leissner sank a free throw with 4:07 remaining to notch his 1,000th career point. With 1:25 to go, the 'Cats regained the lead 67-66 on another Leissner free throw. The Terriers took the lead back on an and-one three, and a final possession layup put Boston University ahead for the win.
