Women’s Soccer Buses to Vermont for Second League Game (Oct. 1; 3 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team is set to take on the University of Vermont on Thursday, Oct. 1 (3 p.m.) at Virtue Field.
LAST TIME OUT FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE (3-5-3)
The Wildcats are coming off a 6-0 home victory against Binghamton University to open conference play. Six goals scored was the highest scoring effort from the team since Nov. 4, 2003 when New Hampshire overturned Northeastern University. Five different 'Cats recorded a goal, led by sophomore Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) who totaled two in the first half. Classmate Kendra Prince (Ajax, Ontario) and freshman Gaby Dorsey (Hubertus, Wis.) each scored their first UNH goals. Senior Caroline Murray (New Canaan, Conn.) tallied her first goal of the season as well as two assists. Senior Gabrielle Sloan (Stow, Mass.) returned to her scoring ways with a goal and an assist while sophomore Veronica Hardy (North Smithfield, R.I) dished out an assist in the second half. Junior Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) improved her overall record to 3-5-3 while making two saves.
LAST TIME OUT FOR VERMONT (4-4-1)
The Catamounts opened their 2015 America East slate with a 1-0 victory against Stony Brook last week (Sept. 27). Sophomore Sarah Martin scored her first goal of the year and the eventual game-winner just 14:54 into the contest. Junior Caitie Green rocketed six shots. Senior goalkeeper Ally Ramos made four saves in the shutout victory.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. VERMONT
New Hampshire holds an 18-9-5 record all time against the Catamounts. Other than the College of the Holy Cross (20 wins), the Wildcats have the highest win total against Vermont all time. The next opponent that UNH has defeated the most is Rhode Island University (16 wins).
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Sophomore Brooke Murphy continues to pace the Wildcat's offense with 14 points (six goals, two assists) on the season. Seniors Caroline Murray (one goal, five assists) and Gabrielle Sloan (three goals, one assist) have seven points apiece. Through 11 games, the Wildcats have earned four shutouts. Borkan holds a 1.13 goals against average and a 0.812 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Junior Nikki McFarland and sophomore Rylee Osgood are tied for the team lead with six points on three goals apiece. Ramos has started all nine games in net, recording a 1.33 goals against average and a 0.776 save percentage on 11 goals against and 38 saves, respectively.
VISITING VIRTUE
The Wildcats already have two games under their belt at Virtue Field when they played the TD Bank Classic at the venue. They defeated Quinnipiac 2-1 (Sept. 4) and tied Kent State 1-1 (Sept. 6) en route to being crowned TD Bank Classic champions. Murphy was named TD Bank Classic MVP after registering two goals and an assist on the weekend.
