Men’s Cross Country to Compete at the NCAA Northeast Regionals (Nov. 13; 1 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team is headed to Boston to compete in the NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships on Friday, Nov. 13 (1 p.m.), at Franklin Park.
MEET DETAILS
The 10K race features 38 programs in the Northeast region. Each team can race seven student-athletes and the top-2 teams will compete at the NCAA Championships as well as the next top-4 individuals.
LAST TIME OUT FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE
New Hampshire finished seventh at the America East Championship on Saturday, Oct. 31, scoring 152 points as a group.
TOP SEVEN WILDCATS LAST TIME OUT
SENIORS SOUND OFF
Senior McCarthy is set to race his sixth race. Most recently, he placed 79th at the America East Cross Country Championships (Oct. 31) with a time of 27 minutes, 56.5 seconds. At the only home meet of the year against Providence College and the College of the Holy Cross (Sept. 5), he secured seventh place in 16:01.8. He followed that up with a 19th place time of 27:05.1 at the Stony Brook University Invitational on Sept. 12.
Senior Gagnon is primed for his fourth race this season, most recently placing 13th at the conference championship to lead all Wildcats. At New Englands (Oct. 10), he placed 35th overall with a time of 25:27.2.
DYNAMIC DUTTON
Junior Dutton enters his fifth race of the season. He placed 27th at the league championships in Stony Brook, wrapping up the race in 26:10.2. He opened his season at Stony Brook with a 26:57.6 time for 13th place. At the conference championships, Dutton was the second-fastest Wildcat with a time of 26:10.24 for 27th place overall.
SECOND-YEAR STARS
Sophomore Kenefick finished the 8K race in 26:29.4 at the league championships for 34th place overall. He opened the season at home with a 16:16.2 time for 12th place in the 5K race against Providence and Holy Cross. At New Englands, the sophomore secured 25th place, breaking the tape in 26:16.8.
Sophomore Chiesa is ready for his seventh race this year. he placed 36th at the conference championships with a time of 26:33.3 in the 8K race. His best finish was at the season opener where he secured 15th place overall against Providence and Holy Cross in the 5K race (16:22.7).
Sophomore Neil Mistretta (Durham, N.H.) has had a busy year, entering his seventh meet on the season. His top finish was at the University of Maine in a dual meet where the sophomore placed fifth overall with a time of 27:58.3. At New Englands, Mistretta secured a 30th-place time of 26:24.2. Most recently, the sophomore placed 74th overall at the America East Championships with a time of 27:32.0.
ROOKIE ROTATION
The newcomer, Symonds, placed 58th overall at the league championships with an 8K time of 27:02.9. At the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet (Oct. 23), he finished 50th overall, wrapping up the race in 15:49.0. His top time this season was the season opener where he engineered a 13th place finish in 16:19.7.
DUE NEXT
If New Hampshire qualifies for the NCAA Championship as the top-2 teams or the next four runners, they will compete Saturday, Nov. 21 in Louisville, Ky.
