First-Year Head Coach Sarah Mansfield-Lahl Records First Career Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior midfielder Addison MacNeil (Brentwood, N.H.) scored two goals to lead the University of New Hampshire field hockey team to Sunday's 2-1 victory against Central Michigan University at Indiana University's Deborah Tobias Field.

It was UNH's first win of the season and first career victory for first-year head coach Sarah Mansfield-Lahl.

Junior goalkeeper Kerigan Ross (Baltimore, Md.) made five saves, as did CMU goalie Jenna Billig.

Mora Rulli scored the Chippewa's goal.

UNH moves to 1-3 and Central Michigan is 0-4.

UP NEXT

UNH returns to action Sept. 13 (1pm) at 11^th-ranked UMass.

The Wildcats' home opener is Sept. 20 (12pm) against Boston University.

FIRST QUARTER

Central Michigan generated the first pressure of the game in the fifth minute but Ross turned away Carolena Ryon's shot and her shot off the rebound was blocked.
One minute later, UNH earned a penalty corner that produced a shot by Becky Ward (Palmerston North, New Zealand) that was stopped by Billig. That led to another corner, however, and this time shots by both Lara Pywell (London, England) and Delilah Talbot (London, England) were blocked.
MacNeil scored her first goal of the year to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at 7:45.
Ross recorded a save on consecutive CMU corners in the ninth minute to preserve the one-goal lead.

The Chippewas had the edge in shots (8-4) and corners (4-3) through 15 minutes.

SECOND QUARTER

CMU converted a corner into a goal by Mora Rulli to tie the score, 1-1, at 17:33.
The 'Cats responded by generating a corner in the 19^th minute, but Ward's initial shot was stopped by Billig and Talbot's shot off the rebound went over the crossbar.
Neither team recorded another shot on goal until UNH's next corner and subsequent shot by Mckenna Nelson (Keene, N.H.) that Billig directed aside at 25:57.
The Wildcats sustained pressure as MacNeil's shot off the rebound was blocked, as was a shot by Pywell.

New Hampshire recorded a 6-2 shot advantage in the second quarter.

THIRD QUARTER

UNH was awarded a penalty stroke 1:43 into the third quarter and MacNeil flicked the ball into the cage to put the Wildcats back in front, 2-1.
In the 43^rd minute, UNH earned a corner that produced Pywell's blocked shot and then a shot by Talbot saved by Billig.

The 'Cats had a 4-1 edge in shots in the third quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER

Both offenses were relatively quiet in the fourth quarter as the teams combined for three shots, all in the last four minutes of the game.
Talbot tested Billig again at 57:07 but was denied.

Ross kept the 'Cats in front when she made a save off the stick of CMUs Cameron Pluciennik at 58:37.

UNH NOTEBOOK

MacNeil finished with career highs in both goals and points (four).

UNH recorded season highs in both shots (16) and corners (eight).

GAME NOTEBOOK

New Hampshire finished with the edge in shots (16-12), shots on goal (7-6) and corners (8-5).
