Mullin named co-EAGL Senior Gymnast of Year; Bruck Ayotte feted as Head Coach of Year
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – UNH senior gymnast Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) was named EAGL co-Senior Gymnast of the Year and head coach Lindsey Bruck Ayotte garnered EAGL Head Coach of the Year honors at the conclusion of Saturday's 2026 EAGL Championship, hosted by LIU.
Mullin, an 11-time All-EAGL gymnast who shared the Senior Gymnast of the Year award with George Washington's Deana Sheremeta, was tabbed All-EAGL First Team on uneven bars, floor exercise and all-around in addition to receiving All-EAGL Second Team honors on vault and balance beam. The Hamden, Conn., native was nominated for the 2026 AAI Award AAI Award, presented annually by American Athletic Inc. in recognition of senior student-athletes who excel in athletic performance, academics, leadership and character. Mullin, a soon-to-be four-time WCGA Scholastic All-American, is a four-time EAGL All-Scholastic Team representative and 2025 Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society inductee who registered 12 first-place finishes this season and was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week three times. She is the second EAGL Senior Gymnast of the Year in program history (Meghan Pflieger, 2017).
In her seventh season leading the Wildcats, Bruck Ayotte won her first Head Coach of the Year award after guiding UNH to the program's first-ever outright EAGL regular-season championship with a perfect 4–0 conference record and an 8–1 mark in regular-season head-to-head competition against league opponents. The Wildcats also thrived at home, finishing the season with a 9–0 record in on-campus meets held in both the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex (5-0) and Lundholm Gym (4-0).
Entering the season, the 'Cats replaced six lineup members from the 2025 season, including two NCAA Regional competitors, while also navigating key injuries throughout the year. 2025 NCAA Regional qualifier and 2026 junior co-captain Annie Challman (Lewisburg, Pa.) missed the entire season, and senior co-captain Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.) was limited to bars after a lower-body injury in late January. Bruck Ayotte's ability to develop depth and keep the team focused allowed the Wildcats to remain competitive week after week. She mentored EAGL's No. 1 balance beam performer, sophomore Mady Harvey (Freeland, Mich.) and Mullin, the league's No. 2 all-arounder. In total, 10 Wildcats captured 18 All-EAGL honors.
In addition to directing all aspects of the program, Bruck Ayotte serves as the team's primary uneven bars coach, helping guide UNH to the No. 1 EAGL bars ranking for the majority of the season. Her technical expertise and attention to detail have made bars one of the team's most dependable events. Bruck Ayotte successfully rebuilt her coaching staff after the departure of two assistant coaches following the 2025 season, welcoming Nick Cramer and promoting Alyssa Worthington. Together, they developed a cohesive staff that supported the team's continued success. Off the competition floor, Bruck Ayotte continues to emphasize academic excellence, with the team achieving a 3.61 cumulative GPA.
