Gymnastics Back on Top With a Home Victory over Towson and Yale

McMullen placed first on floor exercise with a career-high 9.925
DURHAM, N.H. – Junior captain McCall McMullen (Athens, Ga.) scored a career-high 9.925 on floor exercise to finish first in that event, and the UNH gymnastics team tallied a season-high 195.700 to defeat Yale and Towson in Sunday afternoon's Alumni Day meet at Lundholm Gym.
UNH (7-2, 1-0 EAGL) began the meet on vault slowly with junior Gwen Ockerbloom (Granby, Conn.) leading the way with a 9.775 to finish in a three-way tie for fourth. There was also a three-way tie atop the podium (9.800) among Towson's Bella DeCroo and Faye Rodio along with Yale's Ella Hargreaves.
On uneven bars, sophomore Peyton Novinger (Hershey, Pa.) claimed third place with a career-high 9.825, and senior captain Leah Moreno registered a season-high 9.800 to share fourth place with Towson's Hayden Gough. TU's Bella Minervini and Yale's Chloe Dejoy shared first place with matching marks of 9.875.
In the third rotation, sophomore Mady Harvey (Freeland, Mich.) won beam for the third straight meet by scoring a 9.875. Senior Riley Himes (Orlando, Fla.) totaled a personal-best 9.850 to finish in second place; that score helped her earn the team's Katie Baldwin Expression Award for the meet. Ockerbloom claimed a share of fourth with a 9.825 to help the Wildcats boast a season-high 49.050 on that apparatus. The 'Cats have improved their beam score four meets in a row.
UNH also recorded its highest floor score of the season with a 49.275. Following McMullen's victory, senior Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) equaled her season high with a 9.875 to share second place with Towson's Adriana Hoffman. Mullin took over EAGL's No. 1 floor ranking with an average score of 9.856. Ockerbloom's career-high 9.850 tied Yale's Annie Bilbe for fourth. Sophomore Stacy Boss (Richboro, Pa.) tied her personal best with a 9.800 for a share of seventh.
Mullin was also able to edge out Yale's Gabi Sabatini for a second-place finish in the all-around with a 39.050. Minervini won the all-around with a 39.200.
