Meijer Scores Twice in 4-3 Loss to #11 UConn

Meijer scored her goals in a 66-second span in the fourth quarter to lift the Wildcats within 4-3. Junior captain Kathelijne Knuttel (Groningen, Netherlands) also factored in a pair of UNH goals with two assists. Freshman Emily Coughlin (Marshfield, Mass.) scored a goal in her collegiate debut.
UNH goalie Abby Johnson (Walpole, Mass.) was credited with four saves while UConn counterpart Natalie McKenna stopped six shots. Pien Prens led UConn's offense with two goals and Sol Simone finished with two assists.

- UNH plays host to ninth-ranked St. Joseph's on Aug. 31 (2 p.m.)
- St. Joseph's faces off against UConn on Aug. 30 (2 p.m.) at UNH's Memorial Field.

- The shots were even 3-3 and UNH had a 3-2 edge in penalty corners in the opening 15 minutes, but Prens' goal at 13:08 gave the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

- UConn took a a4-1 lead when Julia Bressler scored six seconds into the final frame.
- Meijer had two quick answers with goals at 47:01 and 48:07 to trim the deficit to 4-3. Knuttel set up the first of those two strikes and Louette Petiet (Hoofddorp, Netherlands) garnered an assist on UNH's third goal.
- Neither team recorded another shot until the final minute, when the 'Cats earned a penalty corner and Meijer's shot was blocked with seven seconds to play.

- Meijer matched her career high of two goals established last year vs. Merrimack.
- Meijer recorded 10 of UNH's 14 shots, including 7 of 9 on goal.
- Knuttel equaled her best of two assists established as a freshman against UC Davis in September 2023.
