Freshman sets personal bests on vault, all-around; ties career high on uneven bars
LINCOLN, Neb. – Freshman Aine Reade (Merrimac, Mass.) set a career high on vault and all-around, equaled her personal best on uneven bars for the second straight week and tied for the team's top score on floor exercise to headline the UNH gymnastics team's season-best 195.525 in Saturday night's loss to No. 19 Nebraska at the Devaney Center. The Cornhuskers totaled a 196.350 to win the meet.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Vault (Team Score – 48.925)
•Reade's PB 9.850 tied Nebraska's Isabel Sikon for first place and helped UNH tie its highest vault score of the season.
•Sophomore Gwen Ockerbloom (Granby, Conn.) finished third with a 9.825.
•Junior Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) scored a 9.775 for fourth place, and sophomore McCall McMullen (Athens, Ga.) took fifth (9.750).
Uneven Bars (Team Score – 48.775)
•Sophomore Zoe Arthur (El Segundo, Calif.) paced the Wildcats' bar lineup with a 9.825 for fourth place.
•Reade's career-high tying 9.775 matched Nebraska's Sophia McClelland for fifth.
•Junior Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.) posted a 9.750 (T-9th), Mullin finished with a 9.725 (10th) and senior Summer Simpkins (Audubon, N.J.) recorded a season-high 9.700 (11th).
•Cornhuskers Whitney Jencks, Emma Simpton and Emma Spence shared the victory with a 9.900.
Balance Beam (Team Score – 48.700)
•Freshman Mady Harvey (Freeland, Mich.) led the way on beam for the 'Cats with a 9.775 for fifth place.
•Reade and sophomore Anne Challman (Lewisburg, Pa.) shared sixth place (9.750).
•McMullen placed ninth (9.725) and senior Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) made her season debut with a 9.700 (10th place).
•Nebraska's Isabel Sikon topped the podium with a 9.850.
Floor Exercise (Team Score – 49.125)
•Reade and Challman tied for third place with matching scores of 9.875.
•Senior Gracy Mowers (Middleton, Mass.) tallied a season-high 9.850 for a share of sixth place.
•McMullen scored a 9.825 for a share of eighth.
•McClelland won floor with a 9.925, followed by Jencks (9.900).
All-Around
•Jencks was crowned all-around champion with a 39.350.
•Reade's career-high 39.250 earned her a share of second place with McClelland.
•Mullin placed fourth with a 38.350.
