RICHMOND, Va. – Nick Reed (Harrison, N.Y.), a sophomore kicker on the 22nd-ranked University of New Hamshire football team, was named the CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.
It is the third time this season Reed has received this accolade. He was previously honored Oct. 20 and Sept. 8.
Nick Reed was perfect in UNH's 33-27 victory against the University of Maine on Nov. 22 as he made four field goals, including a school-record 55-yarder, and one PAT to help the Wildcats retain the Brice-Cowell Musket by winning the Buffalo Wild Wings Border Battle.
New Hampshire (8-4, 6-2 CAA) received an at-large bid to the 2025-26 FCS Championship and will play at 14 seed South Dakota State University in a Nov. 29 (1pm Eastern) first round game on ESPN+.
Reed scored all 13 of his points in the first half to help give the Wildcats a 27-7 lead through 30 minutes. The 13 points matched his personal high.
He kicked a 29-yard field goal on the game's first possession to put UNH ahead 3-0 at 11:44. Following a UNH touchdown and Reed PAT at 13:20 of the second quarter, the sophomore kicker connected on a 21-yard field goal to extend New Hampshire's lead to 13-0 at 9:49.
Reed broke the previous school benchmark of 54 yards that had stood since 2009 with a 55-yarder that gave UNH a 24-7 lead at 1:47. He sent a 33-yard kick between the uprights on the last play of the half to push the margin to 27-7.
In addition to his outstanding placekicking, four of Reed's seven kickoffs were touchbacks.
Reed extended his school record for field goals in a season to 24 with the four made attempts vs. Maine. He enters the postseason as the FCS leader in field goals per game (2.0) as well as No. 9 in points (102) and 12th in scoring (8.5 points/game).
