Challman Leads Wildcats in Tri-Meet at 21st-ranked Penn State

UNH scores 192.025 to place third, behind PSU and Penn
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Sophomore Anne Challman (Lewisburg, Pa.) and freshman Mady Harvey (Freeland, Mich.) each posted team-high event scores, and sophomore Gwen Ockerbloom (Granby, Conn.) totaled a 9.800 in her collegiate vault debut to lead the UNH gymnastics team in Sunday afternoon's season-opening tri-meet at 21st-ranked Penn State's Rec Hall.
The host Nittany Lions won the meet with a 195.775, followed by the Penn Quakers (194.725) and the Wildcats (192.025).
UNH (0-2) improved its scores through the meet, compiling a 48.700 on floor exercise and vault in the final rotations after starting the meet with a 46.025 on uneven bars and a 48.600 on balance beam.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Freshman Aine Reade (Merrimack, Mass.) paced the uneven-bar lineup in her collegiate debut with a team-high 9.675. PSU's Maddie Johnston won the event with a 9.850.
•Harvey's 9.825 on beam was good for a share of second place and only 0.025 behind PSU's event-winning Ashley Maul. Challman tied for eighth (9.750) on beam.
•Challman followed up with a 9.825 on floor to share third place with Penn's Zara Gazdak. Reade tallied a 9.800 on floor to claim a share of fifth place. Penn State's Jessica Johnson and Kalea McElligott tied for the top floor score (9.850).
•Ockerbloom finished in a second-place vault tie with Johnston (9.800) behind Penn's Skyelar Kerico (9.850). Reade and sophomore McCall McMullen (Athens, Ga.) each scored a 9.750 (T-5th).
•Nittany Lion Kalea McElligott won the all-around with a 39.150.
